Founded on 1 January 2021 by Timothy Atkins, who is also known for his role as Co-founder and Chief Operating Officer at Osara Health (formerly CancerAid), the platform aimed to become Australia's largest source of startup jobs upon its launch. It positioned itself as a crucial resource for entrepreneurial ventures seeking to attract top talent.

The company's core offering was a streamlined service for employers to post and manage job advertisements. My Startup Gig facilitated the hiring process by pulling job ads directly from employers' career pages or Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS), thereby simplifying job posting and management. This approach provided new entrepreneurial businesses with access to a targeted audience specifically interested in working for startups in Australia.

My Startup Gig offered an affordable monthly fee for basic plans, which included unlimited job advertisements, with an option for featured listings at an additional cost. The platform listed a diverse range of roles, from technical positions like developers and engineers to executive and professional roles such as sales executives and legal counsel. However, public records indicate that My Startup Gig Pty Ltd (ACN 658 838 218) had its Australian Business Number (ABN) status cancelled on 15 October 2025, and its Goods and Services Tax (GST) registration cancelled on 1 July 2025. This followed a notice of proposed voluntary deregistration published by ASIC on 8 August 2025, suggesting that the entity is no longer actively operating its business.
