What Founders Think of Safety Culture (1)
Luke codesigned our founder program, held a workshop two years in a row. Good to know if you are asking for money:
Luke supported us in time, once he saw we grew without his endorsement or cash, THEN he supported us with funding. A good FYI, Luke if unsure, will give you a test you donβt know you're taking.
About Safety Culture
SafetyCulture, an Australian-headquartered global technology company, empowers working teams to enhance daily operations across their organisations through its mobile-first platform. Founded in 2004 in Townsville, Queensland, by Luke Anear, the company initially focused on providing safety compliance documents. A pivotal shift occurred in 2011 with the development of iAuditor, a mobile application designed to digitise traditional paper checklists, which was subsequently launched in 2012. This innovation transformed SafetyCulture from a documentation provider into a leading-edge software developer, enabling frontline workers to conduct inspections, report issues, and manage assets directly from their mobile devices.
The SafetyCulture platform offers a comprehensive suite of tools designed to improve safety, quality, and operational efficiency. Beyond digitised checklists and audits, its capabilities extend to issue reports, real-time data capture, advanced analytics, Internet of Things (IoT) monitoring, risk mitigation strategies, and integrated training solutions through acquisitions like EdApp. The company also provides asset management features, a dedicated marketplace for workwear and supplies, and business insurance services (SafetyCulture Care, formerly Mitti Insurance). This broad functionality positions SafetyCulture as a mobile-first operations platform that gives teams the knowledge, tools, and processes needed for a better way to work.
SafetyCulture serves a diverse global clientele, including over 70,000 organisations across more than 85 countries, ranging from small and medium-sized enterprises to large multinational corporations. Notable clients span various industries such as manufacturing, construction, hospitality, retail, transport and logistics, healthcare, facilities management, and energy and mining. Key achievements include joining the Australian "unicorn club" with a $1.3 billion valuation in 2020, which further escalated to an estimated $2.7 billion valuation by 2024, underscoring its rapid growth and market impact.
Leadership at SafetyCulture has seen a recent transition. Founder Luke Anear, who spearheaded the company's growth since its inception, moved into the role of Executive Chairman on 1 January 2025. Concurrently, Kelly Vohs, a seasoned CEO with extensive experience in leading Blackstone portfolio companies, was appointed as the new Chief Executive Officer. This strategic leadership change aims to propel SafetyCulture towards its next phase of global expansion and continued innovation, particularly in AI-powered solutions for the frontline workforce. The company employs nearly a thousand people globally and maintains offices in Sydney, Townsville, Kansas City, Manchester, and Manila.
SafetyCulture differentiates itself through its commitment to empowering frontline workers, its continuous innovation in mobile technology and AI, and its focus on fostering a proactive safety culture rather than merely ensuring compliance. The platform's ease of use, ability to integrate with existing business systems, and its expansive library of customisable templates contribute to its unique market position. Through its platform, SafetyCulture has facilitated over a billion checks per year, driving measurable improvements in safety and efficiency for its customers worldwide. The company's dedication to operational excellence is further celebrated through its annual Improvement Awards, recognising teams and individuals who make significant impact.
