As a chapter of the broader BusinessOne Consulting Group, which was initially established at the University of New South Wales (UNSW) under the Enactus framework in 2012, the University of Sydney chapter formally commenced its operations, with its ABN becoming active in January 2021. The society serves a dual and vital purpose: providing pro-bono consulting services to innovative, venture-backed startups and offering unparalleled professional development opportunities for University of Sydney students across various disciplines.

Since its founding, the broader BusinessOne Consulting Group has expanded significantly, now boasting a national community of over 5,000 members and operating three distinct chapters across Australia: UNSW, the University of Sydney, and the University of Melbourne. The USYD chapter has played a crucial role in this collective growth, having successfully undertaken numerous consulting engagements that provide startups with strategic advice in critical areas like market entry strategy, pricing optimisation, and product design. Beyond client work, the society provides comprehensive formal training in essential technical and soft skills, often collaborating with top-tier industry partners such as Deloitte, BCG Digital Ventures, and A.T. Leadership from 2022 for the USYD chapter included President Luke Poier, Secretary Omama Walia, Treasurer Tom Nadarajan, VP Marketing Julia Tran, VP Operations Sophie Xiao, and VP Special Projects Jeremy Haddad.
