Write a ReviewAbout Enactus Melbourne
Enactus Melbourne is a dynamic student society based at the University of Melbourne, committed to fostering social impact through entrepreneurial action. As part of the global Enactus network, the Melbourne chapter empowers university students to develop and launch their own social enterprise startups, addressing pressing societal challenges with innovative business solutions. They operate as a 100% non-profit, student-run organisation, applying business principles to complex problems to improve society for current and future generations. The society provides a unique platform for students to gain hands-on experience in developing sustainable business models that empower communities in need.
Central to Enactus Melbourne's offerings is the EnAccelerator, a semester-long student-run startup incubator program designed to guide individuals from ideation to minimum viable product (MVP) development. This program supports students with mentorship from real founders and startup professionals, helping them validate market needs and build tangible solutions. Beyond project development, Enactus Melbourne cultivates a vibrant and inclusive community, bringing together students from all faculties who are passionate about social change and entrepreneurship. They emphasise a strong community focus, offering social events, retreats, and a supportive environment where members can form lasting friendships and professional connections.
Enactus Melbourne has achieved significant recognition for its impactful work, most notably winning the Enactus Australia National Competition in 2024. This victory earned them the prestigious opportunity to represent Australia at the Enactus World Cup in Kazakhstan, competing against teams from 24 other countries. A flagship project, EnAccess Maps, founded by Sabrina Leung in 2021, exemplifies their success by bridging the gap between accessibility and awareness for mobility aid users. To date, EnAccess Maps has secured over $100,000 in equity-free funding and achieved $12,000 in monthly recurring revenue, demonstrating the tangible impact and business viability of their student-led initiatives. Other notable projects include Momento, which delivers personalised written media for families of elderly relatives with dementia, and GradCap, designed to streamline career information for students.
The leadership of Enactus Melbourne comprises a dedicated executive team and project leaders, including President Aidin Liu, Vice Presidents Kierra Bakti, Ian So, Trishton Lee, and Tiger Diao, and various directors across human resources, marketing, events, and strategies. These student leaders, alongside project founders like Jayden Thai and Eva Zhu for EnAccess Maps, drive the organisation's mission and mentor fellow students. Enactus Melbourne differentiates itself by prioritising hands-on building of startups over mere panel events, offering an unparalleled experience in real-world social enterprise development and leadership.
