Designer Fund is a venture capital firm based in San Francisco, United States, dedicated to investing in and supporting early-stage technology companies that recognise the transformative power of design. Founded by designers, the firm primarily backs startups from the pre-seed to Series A stages, focusing on mission-driven founders who deeply value design. They aim to foster innovation that improves health, sustainability, and prosperity for all. Their core mission revolves around empowering leaders with design to improve the world, providing not just capital but also strategic guidance and access to a rich network of design experts.

Established in 2011 or 2012 by Ben Blumenrose and Enrique Allen, Designer Fund emerged from a recognition that design was a critical, yet often overlooked, competitive advantage in the venture ecosystem. Initially, it functioned as a creative community, offering mentorship, funding, and network access to designer founders. Unlike traditional venture capital firms, Designer Fund integrates a deep understanding of design into its investment philosophy, acting as an extension of their portfolio companies' design teams. Over the past decade, Designer Fund has cultivated a robust portfolio of category-defining companies. Notable investments include industry leaders such as Stripe, Gusto, Notion, Omada Health, and Framer, demonstrating their keen eye for design-led innovation that resonates with users. The collective value of Designer Fund companies has reached significant figures, with the firm consistently achieving top-quartile returns for its investors. They have made around 77 to 155 investments across their funds, showcasing a consistent track record of identifying and nurturing successful design-centric startups.

The leadership team is spearheaded by Ben Blumenrose, Co-founder and Managing Partner, who leveraged his extensive background as a design lead and manager at Facebook to co-establish the firm. Enrique Allen, also a Co-founder and Managing Partner, was instrumental in shaping the firm's vision until his passing in 2024; an Enrique Allen Memorial Scholarship at Stanford University now honours his enduring legacy. The team also includes Robyn Park, Head of Platform, who oversees brand and network strategy, and Jackie Berardo, a Principal investor with a strong background in UI/UX design and research from Meta. This experienced team brings deep operational and design expertise to every investment, reinforcing the firm's design-first ethos.
