What Founders Think of Antler (7)
Antler is one of those programs that gives you exactly what you put in. The structure, the pressure, the cohort around you - it's genuinely useful if you show up ready to build and can demonstrate it. Bede is dry and to the point - but he's thorough, he asks the right questions, and once he's bought in he's fully behind you. The kind of person you want on your side when it counts. Good program and you get out of it what you put into it.
Antler was our very first investor and am super happy to have provided DPI to them
Very enthusiastic and eager to push founders to reach their potential
Very easy to talk to and provides direct and quick feedback. Extremely helpful with subsequent raises.
It was good and then it wasn't. We made it to IC and were partnered with a mentor that gave us very limited time, often had calls while commuting, and then ultimately ghosted us before the IC pitch. Although the wider Antler team were great, it felt like a meat grinder, and the investment terms are aggressive for such early stage companies. There are other ways to start a business.
They really invest in founders
Moves fast, really supports the portfolio
About Antler
Antler is a global early-stage venture capital firm headquartered in Singapore, dedicated to supporting exceptional founders from "Day Zero" to building impactful, scalable companies globally. Established in 2017 by Magnus Grimeland and Fridtjof Berge, Antler launched its first program in Singapore in 2018 and has since expanded its presence to over 30 cities across six continents. The firm distinguishes itself with a unique model that combines elements of a business incubator and a startup accelerator, focusing on identifying talented individuals and assisting them in finding co-founders, validating business ideas, and developing minimum viable products.
The firm's core philosophy revolves around its "Day Zero" investment approach, meaning it invests in founders at the very inception of their entrepreneurial journey, often before they have a solidified team or even a concrete business idea. Antler's rigorous selection process identifies individuals with strong backgrounds, domain expertise, and a drive to execute. This distinctive strategy aims to de-risk early-stage venture building by providing critical support such as co-founder matching, mentorship from experienced operators and investors, and access to a vast global network. Antler focuses on removing barriers for early-stage technology entrepreneurs.
Antler's investment mandate spans a diverse range of sectors, including enterprise, fintech, health, artificial intelligence, education, biotechnology, consumer goods, logistics, Web3/crypto, climate, and cybersecurity. While primarily focusing on pre-seed and seed-stage investments, Antler also provides follow-on capital up to Series C through its Antler Elevate fund. This comprehensive support structure ensures a long-term partnership with founders, from their initial idea through growth and scaling.
Key achievements highlight Antler's significant impact on the global startup ecosystem. In 2024, PitchBook recognised Antler as the "Most Active Venture Capital Globally," completing 443 deals. Dealroom also acknowledged Antler as a top AI investor. The firm has invested in over 1,500 startups globally, with notable successes including the creation of two unicorns, Airalo and Lovable. As of early 2026, Antler manages over US$1 billion in assets, having recently closed new global funds totalling $510 million in January 2026, further solidifying its capacity to back future industry-defining companies. The firm has successfully nurtured two unicorn companies, Airalo and Lovable.
The leadership team at Antler is comprised of seasoned entrepreneurs, experienced operators, and investors. Magnus Grimeland serves as the Founder and CEO, bringing a background from McKinsey and co-founding Zalora. Fridtjof Berge is a Co-founder and Chief Business Officer. Other key figures include Jussi Salovaara, Co-founder and Managing Partner Asia, and Karl-Christian Agerup, Chief Investment Officer. This experienced team leverages their collective expertise to guide founders and drive Antler's global strategy, reinforcing its mission to back the world's most ambitious individuals in solving meaningful global challenges.

What founders think of Antler
π¬ Overall sentiment
Reflecting on founder feedback, Antler is predominantly viewed as a dynamic venture capital firm that moves quickly and commits deeply to its portfolio companies. Many founders laud Antler as an invaluable "very first investor," providing substantial support and demonstrating enthusiasm "to push founders to reach their potential." Reviewers frequently highlight the ease of communication, direct and quick feedback, and the firm's significant assistance with subsequent fundraising rounds.
β What stands out
The program's structured environment, peer pressure, and overall intensity are generally considered genuinely useful, particularly for those "ready to build and can demonstrate it," reinforcing a philosophy of "you get out of it what you put into it." One founder specifically praised a partner for being thorough, asking the right questions, and offering full backing once committed. However, the experience isn't without its criticisms.
π Room to grow
One verified reviewer recounted a negative journey where, despite making it to investment committee, they were paired with a mentor who provided limited time, took calls while commuting, and eventually "ghosted us before the IC pitch." This founder described the process as feeling like a "meat grinder," expressing concerns about "aggressive investment terms for such early stage companies" and noting "other ways to start a business." Despite this critical assessment, the overarching consensus suggests Antler offers a significant advantage for founders prepared to fully embrace its demanding program, particularly given its speed and direct engagement.
