Under the leadership of Managing Director Christie Jenkins, a former top-ranked athlete, the program incorporates a high-performance mindset, even utilising Special Forces coaches and professional athletes to train founders. Techstars Sydney is industry-agnostic, welcoming startups from a broad spectrum including AI, fintech, healthtech, advanced manufacturing, and climate tech, among others. A key achievement is its innovative Demo Day format, which has moved away from traditional pitch decks to emphasise actual product demonstrations by its graduating companies, attracting thousands of attendees.

Techstars, as a global entity, has a track record of success, having invested in over 4,000 early-stage startups and contributing to the growth of dozens of 'unicorn' companies. The Sydney program itself has seen significant interest, receiving hundreds of applications for its typically 12-company cohorts, and has a strong focus on supporting diverse founding teams, with a notable percentage involving women and racially diverse individuals.
