Startmate has achieved significant milestones since its inception, having invested in over 300 startups with a collective portfolio value exceeding $4.5 billion. The firm's investment strategy often involves providing a $120,000 cheque at a $1.5 million post-money valuation or matching a startup's latest funding round through capped microfunds raised every six months. This model has proven successful, with its 2011-2016 funds delivering 2.6x cash on cash returns, positioning Startmate's performance to equal that of a top quartile venture capital fund. Furthermore, Startmate has played a crucial role in talent development, notably supporting over 800 women through its Women Fellowship, with more than 550 of them subsequently joining or founding their own startups.

The leadership at Startmate is pivotal to its ongoing success and community engagement. Phoebe Pincus currently serves as the Chief Executive Officer, having stepped into the role after Michael Batko's eight-year tenure concluded in 2026. Phoebe joined Startmate in 2021 as Chief of Staff and advanced to Chief Operating Officer before taking the helm, demonstrating a deep understanding of the organisation's operations and community. The team also includes key figures such as Holly Brooks, the Head of Marketing, who is instrumental in growing the Startmate Nation and shaping its public narrative. This leadership team, alongside a dedicated group of innovators and operators, continues to drive Startmate's vision to unleash startup ambition across Australia and New Zealand, fostering an environment where groundbreaking companies can thrive and contribute to a better future.
