At the core of its entrepreneurial efforts is the Forcht Center for Entrepreneurship, established in 2008 with a generous alumni gift. The Forcht Center, housed within the College of Business, serves as a central hub for entrepreneurship education, mentorship, and startup support, offering nationally recognised undergraduate and graduate programs. It facilitates experiential learning through initiatives like UofL Sandbox, a year-long interdisciplinary course where student teams develop and launch software products, retaining 100% equity in their creations. Additionally, the Forcht Center administers the Brown-Forman Cardinal Challenge, an annual business plan competition providing cash prizes and crucial exposure to investor and mentor networks for promising student ventures.

Beyond academic programs, the University of Louisville is instrumental in direct venture acceleration. The UofL Office of Research and Innovation, through its UofL New Ventures office, actively supports the launch and growth of startups built on university research and technologies.
