About The Gold Coast Innovation Hub

The Gold Coast Innovation Hub (GC Hub) is a dynamic not-for-profit organisation established in 2017 by key Gold Coast innovators and industry groups. Its core mission is to foster innovation and digital business creation, driving commercial success within the Gold Coast and the broader Australian community. The Hub serves a diverse ecosystem, assisting everyone from early-stage startups seeking guidance and resources to established businesses aiming for the next level of growth and expansion.

Operated by founders for founders, the GC Hub distinguishes itself through a community of experienced experts who intimately understand the entrepreneurial journey. It provides a comprehensive suite of support, including programs, event spaces, and coworking facilities, all designed to facilitate connections, collaboration, and growth. The Hub is known for delivering high-quality, low-cost support, bolstered by strong commercial backing and crucial linkages to government initiatives, industry programs, and information services. Through a collaborative and open environment, the GC Hub aims to provide its members with greater access to support, essential skills, knowledge, funding opportunities, and a thriving community, ultimately enhancing their chances of success.

A significant milestone in its history was its relocation in March 2024 to the Southern Cross University's Gold Coast Campus, a move intended to turbo charge its delivery and expand opportunities by leveraging the university's intellectual capabilities and student talent. Key achievements include assisting a diverse range of businesses, establishing strong international networks into the US, Singapore, and India, and representing Australia for the Commonwealth Alliance of Young Entrepreneurs (CAYE). The Hub had a stated goal in 2018 to support over 400 new businesses, create more than 2,000 new jobs, and generate a substantial $3 billion economic impact within five years.

Leadership at the Gold Coast Innovation Hub is spearheaded by its co-founder and CEO, Sharon Hunneybell. Recognised by the Australian Financial Review as one of Australia's 100 Women of Influence, Hunneybell is a passionate advocate for technology, innovation, and collaboration, particularly in fostering youth participation in startups. The volunteer Board of Directors includes Christine Lennon as Secretary and Allan Godbee as Treasurer, alongside other dedicated advisors and staff who contribute to the Hub's vision and operations.
