Launch VIC – CIVVIC Labs is a specialised accelerator program based in Melbourne, Australia, operating under the umbrella of LaunchVic, Victoria's dedicated startup agency. Established in 2017, LaunchVic was created to foster the growth of Victoria's innovation ecosystem by providing targeted programs, co-investment funds, and crucial connections to private capital. CivVic Labs, a key initiative, specifically focuses on bridging the gap between ambitious early-stage founders and public sector challenges, inviting entrepreneurs to develop innovative solutions for real-world government problems.

The program distinguishes itself by offering an immersive bootcamp experience where participants learn from industry experts and directly validate their ideas with policymakers and Victorian citizens. This co-design approach ensures that solutions are not only innovative but also directly address genuine needs within the community and government. CivVic Labs provides equity-free seed funding, typically $12,500, to participating teams upon completion of the initial program, with opportunities for further funding, often an additional $25,000 to $35,000, for standout solutions to aid in prototype development and commercialisation.

Since its inception in 2018, CivVic Labs has served as a vital launchpad for over 70 local startups, with its alumni collectively raising nearly $20 million in investment capital. This success highlights the program's effectiveness in transforming early-stage ideas into viable, market-ready businesses. Recent challenges have focused on diverse areas such as farm safety, circular agriculture, energy technology, and enhancing tourism, hospitality, and event experiences across Victoria, demonstrating the program's adaptability and commitment to broad societal impact.

While LaunchVic, the parent entity, underwent a transition with its functions announced to transfer to Breakthrough Victoria and Invest Victoria in December 2025, CivVic Labs has continued its active program delivery, evidenced by recent challenge winners announced in March 2026. The overarching mission, guided by LaunchVic's strategic priorities, remains to build the capability and confidence of Victorians to create, scale, and invest in technology-driven startups, ensuring Victoria remains a leading hub for innovation. The board of LaunchVic has included experienced leaders like Leigh Jasper (Co-founder & Chair of Glitch Capital) and Brigitte Smith (Co-Founder and Managing Director of GBS Venture Partners).
